Kaya has been sleeping from about 11pm-5am every night! The whole family is appreciating the extra rest. Tonight Grandma and Grandpa Martin are going to hang out with Kaya while Mommy and Daddy go out to dinner with Uncle John to celebrate his birthday.

A Note on the Puppy Bears. The Puppy Bears are the mobile that is part of Kaya's pack and play. When we first saw this mobile, we thought it was the silliest thing ever - no batteries, so it doesn't play music or spin on its own - you have to manually move it. We spent so much time making fun of it, we almost didn't bother to set it up. Well, go figure, Kaya LOVES this thing. She loves the Puppy Bears. She laughs and smiles and tries to talk to them all the time. I am pretty sure they are talking back to her. She will even stop crying to smile at them. They are her best friends.

What are Puppy Bears anyway? Well, Mommy thinks they look like Bears. I mean, come on, they have no tails. But Daddy thinks they look like dogs, based on how they are sitting. Since agreement on the animal could not be reached, Mommy and Daddy decided to name them either "Bear Dogs", "Teddy Dogs" or "Puppy Bears". And that is the story of how this randomness came about.

Kaya had her 2 month appt today! She's up to 11 pounds 8 ounces, and 23 3/4 inches. She was happy for most of the appt and was smiling at and gurgling to the doctor the entire time. She wasn't too happy when the nurse gave her 4 shots though! But she recovered quickly and was smiling at people in the waiting room on the way out.

Kaya has a new best friend! It's a Clifford the Big Red Dog balloon that is bigger than she is. She talks to him as much as she talks to the Puppy Bears now. Like the Puppy Bears, Clifford is a stoic sort who doesn't say much back.

Kaya is 10 weeks old now. She's starting to interact with some of her toys alot more. She's been chewing on poor Freddy the Firefly alot, and she likes to hang out in her bouncer and play with the toy bar too. And she's really having a great time playing on her playmat now, which has a ton of hanging animals to interact with. Up until now she kinda just layed on the playmat. And she loves to put her hands and her shirt in her mouth when she can. Definitely getting more active, and fun to watch!! She still absolutely hates tummy time, but we're working on it. Oh, she also used the bumbo for the first time this week. she's okay in it for a few minutes, but she gets tired of it pretty quickly.

Kaya went to the zoo for the second time today. And she was even awake for part of it! Mommy bought a membership, so Kaya is going to be visiting the zoo often over the next year. Kaya keeps smiling and talking more every day now. She's definitely trying to communicate something!

Kaya figured out how to suck her thumb today. Up until now she usually would try to stuff her whole hand in her mouth, and end up just trying to suck on her knuckles. yay for the thumb!

Happy Thanksgiving! Kaya started her holiday at home where, while checking out the puppy bears, she laughed like an adult for the first time. She literally made a hee hee hee sound. It was very cute! Then she had her first big car trip across the state to see relatives for Thanksgiving dinner. She loved going through the tunnels on the turnpike too because the lights in the tunnel made the inside of the car seem like a disco. Her eyes were very big when this was happening. Then she had Thanksgiving dinner with lots of family and got to meet more family members too! Thanksgiving dinner was wonderful and was held at her Great Aunt and Uncles home. She spent her first night away from home at her Great Grandparents house. Luckily Mom and Dad brought her pack n play so she had a familiar place to sleep. She'll be ready for turkey next year (maybe)!

The last few days, Kaya has been talking in 'complete' baby sentences or possibly paragraphs. It's so much fun watching her try to tell us stuff!
